We are a class of Year 3 and 4 students at Hamilton East School in Hamilton, New Zealand. Our teacher is Rebecca Wilcox, you can contact her by emailing rwilcox@hameast.school.nz.
We love learning together and sharing our learning with others.
hi room 14 I can see what you have been doing in your classroom. You have been adding numbers to make ten and also that is called making a tidy number.I might give it a try with the tens frames at home.I think you have a very nice blog and I'm looking forward to doing more comments.
The tens frame is a treasure! Makes students visualize the math operations. You're an inspiring example to teachers everywhere. - Layce of Mymathdone.com
We read the book The Tree House Treaty by Wiremu Grace. The children in the story built a tree hut in a big old Pohutakawa tree. They made a treaty to agree how they could all use their tree hut fairly. We created our own class treaty to symbolize how our class is a friendly and supportive learning environment.
Everyday we have swimming. We have people who are learning to get their faces wet by playing ring-a-rosie. Some of us are learning to kick so the water bubbles. And some of us are learning to do freestyle without splashing the water by cupping our hands. On Fridays we get to practice our swimming by having free time. It is fun! Today we made a whirlpool. We made it go fast and it started dragging us. Then we went the other way. It was hard because the water was pushing us back. When we finished the water was pushing us along.
Anna knows some students from New Zealand who are currently overseas on an AFS exchange . She got them to email a photo of their lunch to us. One of the students also sent photos of their breakfast and dinner. Photo A Photo B Photo C Photo D Photo E Photo F Please leave us a comment with your guess about where you think the food comes from. A big thank you to Chayla, Caroline and Brittany for emailing these photos to us. We will write another post soon explaining what the food is and where it is from.
I think I automatically make tidy tens when I am adding !
