Nude Food Day

Today is Nude Food Day. 
Room 14 is celebrating it by not having any wrappers in their lunchboxes.  Instead we are using containers or nothing.


 

 
Here is a lunchbox without wrappers. It just has a container to put the food in. We are trying to help care for the environment by having less packaging.

    Hi Room 14!
    How is your nude food day going? Is is hard to find food at home without wrappers? I think it's great for our environment not to have wrappers on our food... and it's means you're eating fresh food as well!

    Hi! Mrs Natusch,
    We loved Nude Food Day. We liked how our food tasted. Tarn really liked not having to un-do the wrappers on his food so he could get to the food quickly. Rebecca liked the challenge of finding food without wrappers. We also noticed there was less rubbish lying around our school. Some of us do use plastic bags but we re-use them each day.

    Students of Room 14HES, you've inspired us to give you a tour of our lunch trays. Most of us at PS # 12, in New Jersey-USA, don't bring lunch boxes to school. Instead, we eat free or reduced price school lunches. As a result, there isn't as much variety as is on display in your lunch boxes. It's always good to compare and contrast the ways in which we are similar and different. Please take a look at our class blog spot on Monday. Leave us a comment so that we will hear your thoughts.     We can't wait to see your class photos of your lunches. Today we used Google Earth to look at your school and we thought our school location looks similar because we have a river by our school too.

Getting Wet I was jumping up and down singing ‘ring-a-ring-a-rosies’. My goal was getting wet so I tried and tried to get wet until my nose touched the water. Then I had done it! When I was jumping up and down singing ‘ring-a-ring-a-rosie’ I thought it was helping me to move in the water. I was still a little frightened of splashes the people made but day-by-day I got braver and braver. Swimming even helped me float with the board. I love swimming. By Rafeea My Swimming Goal I zoom through the open gate door. I zoom inside the open girls changing room door and I got changed very, very, quickly. I got out of the girls changing room and waited for my turn alongside the gate. Now it’s my groups turn to get in. I slide in the safe way. It was cold and chilly in the pool. Mother Duck

Every year the same duck comes back to our school to lay her eggs. Building a nest at a school seems like a strange thing to do.  This morning Room 14 went and visited Mother Duck in Fairyland.  We had to be quiet so we didn't scare her. We wonder how many eggs she has laid in her nest? Here are some of our stories we wrote about Mother Duck.  We drew pictures of Mother Duck using Kidpix. As she lays her eggs snug and warm in fairyland Mother Duck is fed by Father Duck. Dugan puts a fence to stop kids from damaging her scaly feathers even though she is tucked away in the leaf litter under the fern. The sky blue eggs will hatch into ducklings soon.
