Making Connections

At the moment it is school holidays in New Zealand. 
I am lucky to be at a conference called Ulearn.
 Today I was a presentation led by two teachers called Claire Buist and Anne Kenneally.
I had a look at a blog that Anne helps with -  Room 7 at St Mary's School.
AND guess what....they had a blog post about us! Room 14!!! Isn't that cool!

    Some connections in this world are only to be described as PURE MAGIC!!! Online is an amazing learning environment... then meeting face to face brings the icing to the cake, the layer of magic. I have tears in my eyes as I read your post - how truly Serendipitous to meet you today and make this connection. Your class are very lucky to have such an awesome teacher! I eagerly look forward to connecting more in the future!

We read the book The Tree House Treaty by Wiremu Grace.   The children in the story built a tree hut in a big old Pohutakawa tree.  They made a treaty to agree how they could all use their tree hut fairly. We created our own class treaty to symbolize how our class is a friendly and supportive learning environment.

Swimming

Everyday we have swimming. We have people who are learning to get their faces wet by playing ring-a-rosie. Some of us are learning to kick so the water bubbles. And some of us are learning to do freestyle without splashing the water by cupping our hands. On Fridays we get to practice our swimming by having free time. It is fun! Today we made a whirlpool. We made it go fast and it started dragging us. Then we went the other way. It was hard because the water was pushing us back. When we finished the water was pushing us along.
