We have taken a class photo to go with our class Treaty. All of us raise our hands to signify our commitment to HES way.



Last week we admired the HUGE Redwood tree standing on the HES grounds. For the class unit 'Turangawaewae' we are discovering hidden life stored in seeds we found foraging beneath the trees and flax plants above.





Here we admire the Harekeke or Flax seeds as we shake them free and collect a selection to grow.


 Seeds are all different shapes and sizes.

We read the book The Tree House Treaty by Wiremu Grace.   The children in the story built a tree hut in a big old Pohutakawa tree.  They made a treaty to agree how they could all use their tree hut fairly. We created our own class treaty to symbolize how our class is a friendly and supportive learning environment.

Swimming

Everyday we have swimming. We have people who are learning to get their faces wet by playing ring-a-rosie. Some of us are learning to kick so the water bubbles. And some of us are learning to do freestyle without splashing the water by cupping our hands. On Fridays we get to practice our swimming by having free time. It is fun! Today we made a whirlpool. We made it go fast and it started dragging us. Then we went the other way. It was hard because the water was pushing us back. When we finished the water was pushing us along.

Welcome to Quad Blogging

This week is the beginning of our Quad Blogging.  This is a great way to connect with other classes around the world. It is when you have other classes around the world that are your friends.
