3d shapes

We have been learning about 3d shapes. 
Sphere's are 3d circles and cube's are 3d squares. Triangular prism's have two triangles at the side and three rectangles to join them.

This is a cube. It has 8 corners and 12 edges. They are all the same size.

Pyramids have 5 corners and 8 edges.

    I love learning about 3zd shapes because you can learn how many sides edges and corners there are in different shapes.

We read the book The Tree House Treaty by Wiremu Grace.   The children in the story built a tree hut in a big old Pohutakawa tree.  They made a treaty to agree how they could all use their tree hut fairly. We created our own class treaty to symbolize how our class is a friendly and supportive learning environment.

Swimming

Everyday we have swimming. We have people who are learning to get their faces wet by playing ring-a-rosie. Some of us are learning to kick so the water bubbles. And some of us are learning to do freestyle without splashing the water by cupping our hands. On Fridays we get to practice our swimming by having free time. It is fun! Today we made a whirlpool. We made it go fast and it started dragging us. Then we went the other way. It was hard because the water was pushing us back. When we finished the water was pushing us along.
