Practising Reading Fluently

This week we tried recording ourselves reading with the flipcam. It is the first time we have done this independently. We were focusing on reading fluently with our journal held below our face so that the camera could record our faces as we read. How do you think we did on our first attempt?

    Hi Shakshi. We are glad you like our blog. Anna is now teaching in Room 4 and Mrs Nicholson is our teacher this year. We remember you. Do you have a class blog we can look at?

    Am not sure why you couldn't open it. I've check it again tonight and it seems to be working. If anyone else has trouble opening it let me know and I'll troubleshoot.

We read the book The Tree House Treaty by Wiremu Grace.   The children in the story built a tree hut in a big old Pohutakawa tree.  They made a treaty to agree how they could all use their tree hut fairly. We created our own class treaty to symbolize how our class is a friendly and supportive learning environment.

Swimming

Everyday we have swimming. We have people who are learning to get their faces wet by playing ring-a-rosie. Some of us are learning to kick so the water bubbles. And some of us are learning to do freestyle without splashing the water by cupping our hands. On Fridays we get to practice our swimming by having free time. It is fun! Today we made a whirlpool. We made it go fast and it started dragging us. Then we went the other way. It was hard because the water was pushing us back. When we finished the water was pushing us along.
