Skype

We have been using skype to communicate with people around the world and even in our school. 
First we talked to Anna's host family in Argentina. She talks to them in Spanish and translates what we say. It can get really confusing.

Anna's friend Mariel who lives in San Francisco, USA had a problem with her basil plants so she skyped us so we could help her work out what was wrong. We were so excited to be able to speak English on skype that we were all very shy.


When Room 5 skyped us we were really excited. It was cool to see right into their classroom and find out what they were doing.

We read the book The Tree House Treaty by Wiremu Grace.   The children in the story built a tree hut in a big old Pohutakawa tree.  They made a treaty to agree how they could all use their tree hut fairly. We created our own class treaty to symbolize how our class is a friendly and supportive learning environment.

Swimming

Everyday we have swimming. We have people who are learning to get their faces wet by playing ring-a-rosie. Some of us are learning to kick so the water bubbles. And some of us are learning to do freestyle without splashing the water by cupping our hands. On Fridays we get to practice our swimming by having free time. It is fun! Today we made a whirlpool. We made it go fast and it started dragging us. Then we went the other way. It was hard because the water was pushing us back. When we finished the water was pushing us along.

This week is the beginning of our Quad Blogging.  This is a great way to connect with other classes around the world. It is when you have other classes around the world that are your friends.
