We are a class of Year 3 and 4 students at Hamilton East School in Hamilton, New Zealand. Our teacher is Rebecca Wilcox, you can contact her by emailing rwilcox@hameast.school.nz.
We love learning together and sharing our learning with others.
We have finished our calendar art and it is in the office for parents to view, and order calendars and cards. Here is a sneak peek at how wonderful it is. Just click on the picture and turn the pages.
Hi Room 14 Well done on making a great job putting your calendar art together. I'm sure the parents will be eager to buy each and every one. Thanks for sharing them on your blog. From Mrs Laburn Kids with a view
Wow! That is like a good idea to cut out a picture of yourself and put a leaf backround on. It seems like the leaves has gone big or the people went small. Rebecca Room8
Dear Room 14 We like you leaf picture. I think you did a good job at cutting out your pictures. We think you have lovely smiles. Did you take your own leaf photos?
Yes we piled up some of the leaves around the school and we all took turns taking photographs. Once they were on the computer we were able to use the photograph we had taken, or one someone else had taken. Some of the photographs had badly angled leaves so we couldn't place ourselves in a sitting position. We know what to look for next time we take photographs for a project like this. The leaves were such lovely colours we had trouble picking the one we liked the most.
We read the book The Tree House Treaty by Wiremu Grace. The children in the story built a tree hut in a big old Pohutakawa tree. They made a treaty to agree how they could all use their tree hut fairly. We created our own class treaty to symbolize how our class is a friendly and supportive learning environment.
Everyday we have swimming. We have people who are learning to get their faces wet by playing ring-a-rosie. Some of us are learning to kick so the water bubbles. And some of us are learning to do freestyle without splashing the water by cupping our hands. On Fridays we get to practice our swimming by having free time. It is fun! Today we made a whirlpool. We made it go fast and it started dragging us. Then we went the other way. It was hard because the water was pushing us back. When we finished the water was pushing us along.
This week is the beginning of our Quad Blogging. This is a great way to connect with other classes around the world. It is when you have other classes around the world that are your friends. You connect with them by looking at and commenting on their blogs. We will find out what they are learning about. We hope to also learn about their countries. Our Quad Blogging buddies are - Year 4, Greenpark School Year 4, Trinity CE Lower School Mrs Booth's Fourth Graders, Sherman Central School, USA Hi! Quad Bloggers, This is us - Room 14 - underneath the gateway at the front of our school. We are excited about reading your comments on our blog. We have thought of some questions to find out more about you - Where do you like to play at your school? What is your favourite subject? What do you like to learn about? Do you have a school uniform? What time does your school start and finish? Where is your school? How many students are at your school? How old is your school? We look forward
Wow, the children look like characters from the Magic Faraway Tree, maybe wood pixies or elves. What a fun idea!
