Statistics

In Room 14 we have been working very hard learning about statistics. We learnt about undertaking a statistical investigation and all the different aspects involved. We learnt about: Posing questions Collecting data in tally graphs Organising our data Presenting our data in a pictograph form How to use a key Reading graphs and understanding the information they give us These are some of the pictographs we presented. We then integrated this with our ICT and used KidPix to present our information.

Exciting introduction to small ball skills

The Hamilton East Cricket teams were lucky enough to have some players from the Northern Knights cricket team come in and spend some time playing cricket with them. Room 14 also went down to Putikitiki with the players and had the opportunity to ask them questions about cricket and what it was like to be a professional sports person.  We then had a fantastic introduction to small ball skills. The players taught us about the skills needed to throw and catch a cricket ball effectively. We had a lot of fun with them. Northern Knights on PhotoPeach

Cyber-Bullying

Last week Room 14 were lucky enough to see a show about cyber-bulling. We learnt lots of different things such as: - Tell someone you trust if you are being cyber-bullied - Don’t give out personal information to anyone over the internet - Be careful what photos and messages you put on social media - Don’t reply to nasty messages or texts Today Room 14 went to a cyber bullying show. I learnt how to be kind on the internet. I saw two girls and they were dancing. I heard music. I felt happy. I had a good time. They were good actors. I liked when they were funny. Tom Y3 When Room 14 went to the hall to see the cyber bullying show we saw two ladies on the stage getting everything ready. When the show started it was a little bit funny. The two ladies were teaching us what cyber bullying was. We learnt that cyber bullying could be someone on a phone or tablet and they send mean stuff about another person. Latoya Y3
