The Kitchen Garden

Image
We have been working in our Kitchen Garden over the last couple of days. We wrote a letter to Treescape and Anna dropped it off to them on Wednesday. That same afternoon Phil from Treescape drove a truck to our school and dropped off a load of woodchips. That meant on Thursday we had a BIG job to do. We had to move the woodchip into the Kitchen Garden area. Some people used the spades to fill the wheelbarrows.  Other people filled ice-cream containers or a bucket.   We worked really hard as a team.  Until the Kitchen Garden was covered in the woodchip.  WOW!!! We are pretty amazing workers. Look at the garden before and after. Before when we only had carpet and grass. After when we had added the woodchip.

Scones

Today we made delicious scones in the Cool Kids Kitchen.  We had to rub butter into the flour mixture. Then we had to stir in the milk with a knife. We added chives from the Kitchen Garden to our mixture.  We kneaded the scone mixture and then squashed it out onto the table. Then we use a cup to make the scones into circles. We put them onto baking trays. And put them in the oven for about 15 minutes. We put them on a wire tray to cool down.  Then it was time to eat them!  We picked lettuce from our garden to have with them. Boxsey thought they were tasty.

Ducks

On Thursday we decided to spy on the ducks that were swimming in our school pool.  While we were sketching them we were so quiet and focused that one of the ducks decided to come and see what we were doing.  Look how close he got to us! The duck stayed close to Lloyd for a long time. Look at his great duck sketch.
